Young also wanted Clara’s return to add some spice to Edward’s attempt to convince Lady Denham that he’s been totally reformed. “I think the audiences are pretty aware by the end of Episode 1 that Edward is not as redeemed as he’s pretending to be,” Young said. “I thought, let’s bring Clara in at the point that is most interesting and most unhelpful for Edward.”
